QUESTION: What do I need to supply to enable you to carry out a repair at my home or place of work?
ANSWER: We need two points of power (double or two singles) to connect to the electricity supply to allow us to power our air compressor and lighting systems. We provide the two 25 metre extension leads that enable us to reach our specifically fitted out mobile unit and carry out our repairs safely away from your vehicle. Also, we need access to a supply of water
QUESTION: How much water do you require to carry out the repairs or refurbishments?
ANSWER: We can manage with just a couple of buckets full of water to clean the rims, however, if you can supply a hosepipe, this is a great aid for rinsing off the alloys prior to any repairs being carried out. Its vitally important that we can remove all brake dust, road tar deposits and contamination and silicone cleaning products that may have been used on the wheel surfaces and we use alloy wheel chemical cleaner fluids to enable us to respray with paint and lacquers.
QUESTION: I only have a small front to my house will you still be able to carry out the repairs using your mobile service van?
ANSWER: Our vans are fitted out specifically for the refurbishment of alloy wheels and all the work undertaken is carried out within the mobile unit ensuring that no over-spray contaminates your vehicle. The vehicle has a long wheelbase and a high-top therefore it’s important that I am able to park close to your vehicle so that two 25 metre extension leads can be run to your property.
QUESTION: How soon is it safe to drive the vehicle once you have completed the repairs?
ANSWER: Once the wheels paints and lacquer have been cured using our infra red lamps and have been refitted to your vehicle you can drive the car. The alloys lacquer is a chemically harden clear coat that will only fully harden over the next 24/48 hrs dependent on the ambient temperature. We recommend that although the finish is touch dry and will not attract any contaminates no hard cleaning should be attempted for at least a couple of days after the refurbishment/repairs have been carried out.
QUESTION: What is the best way to clean and maintain the finish after the refurbishment or repairs?
ANSWER: We recommend that you try and clean your alloys at least once a week if used for most everyday uses.Although we only use the best quality products and paints its vitally important to keep the brake dust off the newly lacquered surfaces as it will bake on over a period of time and eat into and contaminate the high gloss finish to the clear-coat lacquer. Special alloy wheel cleaners and soapy water agitated by a soft brush will quickly remove brake dust and tar deposits and a final buff and rim wax will ensure the alloys will retain their high gloss and sheen to ensure the durable and long-lasting finish
QUESTION: Can you repair Buckles or flat spot damage caused by driving into road potholes?
ANSWER: Hitting a pothole normally results in flat spots and buckles to your inner rims, only highlighted by vibration through your steering or slow or rapid deflation of your tyre. The damaged rim is dented out and the bead seal area of the tyres and wheel become separated allowing air to leak out and deflate the tyre. We can repair using our mobile service if you have relatively small flat spots on the inner edge to the rim- If the wheel has been buckled then sometimes we need to take the alloy away to be placed on our straightening machine to repair. Please contact us for advice, a photo of any flat spots is always useful to assess the best repair options available.
